Parking Lot Sign Installation for Commercial Properties

Precision Pavement Solutions installs parking lot signs for commercial properties, managed communities and new construction projects.

We work with property managers, HOAs, general contractors and commercial owners to install designated parking signs and traffic control signs according to the approved project scope.

Signs can be included alongside parking lot striping, ADA markings, wheel stops and other site improvements.

What Types of Parking Lot Signs Do You Install?

Our scope can include:

  • Accessible parking identification signs
  • Van-accessible parking signs
  • Reserved parking signs
  • Visitor and designated parking signs
  • Stop signs
  • Directional and traffic control signs
  • Other specified parking lot signage

Sign type, material, mounting method and location depend on the property and project requirements. For accessible parking sign rules, see our ADA parking requirements guide.

Can You Replace Existing Parking Lot Signs?

Yes. PPS can quote replacement of damaged or missing signs as part of a parking lot maintenance project.

We review the requested sign type, existing mounting conditions and installation requirements.

Replacement work may involve signs, posts, mounting hardware or other specified components.

Can Signs Be Installed With Striping and Wheel Stops?

Yes. PPS can combine parking lot sign installation with restriping, ADA parking markings and wheel stop installation.

For new construction, signs and other parking lot site items can be included in the pavement marking proposal.

Questions

Parking Lot Signs FAQ

What standards apply to parking lot signs?

Applicable sign requirements depend on the type of sign, the property, its use and the jurisdiction. Traffic control signs may be subject to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) where applicable. Accessible parking identification signs are addressed by accessibility standards and may also be subject to state or local requirements. Project plans and specifications should identify the required sign types, sizes, locations and installation details.

Are private parking lot signs required to follow the MUTCD?

MUTCD applicability depends on whether the roadway or parking area falls within its scope and on the governing jurisdiction. Certain private roads open to public travel may be covered, while other private parking areas may be treated differently. The applicable requirements should be confirmed for the specific project.

What height should an accessible parking sign be installed at?

Under the 2010 ADA Standards, accessible parking identification signs generally must be mounted at least 60 inches above the ground surface, measured to the bottom of the sign. Georgia law calls for its official accessible parking sign to be mounted 7 feet to the bottom of the sign. Other sign requirements and exceptions may apply. The project documents and applicable jurisdictional requirements should be checked before installation.

Does a painted accessible parking symbol replace the sign?

Generally, no. A pavement symbol should not be treated as a substitute for required accessible parking identification signage.

Do stop signs have to be a specific size?

Stop sign dimensions depend on the applicable traffic control standards, roadway conditions and project requirements. PPS follows the approved sign schedule and specifications rather than assuming one sign size is suitable for every installation.
